For the love of Pumpkin Picking

Fall is one of my favorite seasons and it actually lasts until December 21st which marks the first official day of winter. Even so, I do believe fall is at its peak in October/early November. This is when the leaves start to change color and fall from the trees and the weather is still somewhat tolerable. The crisp weather, the leaves changing color and all things pumpkin spice are a few of my favorite things! As a huge pumpkin lover it is only fitting that this post be dedicated to pumpkin picking. Oddly enough, this was actually my first time going pumpkin picking. It’s a perfect fall activity to do along with apple picking, hay rides/corn maze, haunted houses, etc. Oh and we gain an extra hour of sleep due to daylight savings time as well :)

Outfit of the day (OOTD) details:

Hooded wrap cardigan: Forever21. I know this is cheating but this hooded wrap cardigan was purchased about 5-6 years ago from Forever21 and I can’t seem to let go of it. To dress it up, you can attach a brooch/pin to hold it in place. You can google it and tons of stores carry similar products.

Boots: Tory Burch

Messenger bag: Michael Kors

Jeans: Guess

Make sure you read my previous post: For the love of Harem Pants and don’t forget to read the first comment. (Comments can be found at the bottom of the post where it says replies or click on the gray circle with the number inside next to the title or the date of the post) I usually don’t approve malicious comments that are put for the sole purpose of attacking someone but it was too hard for me to simply ignore such stupidity when it is constantly coming from the same source. Thanks for reading! Xoxo

For the love of Birthday Cake

Birthday Cake

Birthday Cake

This blog post is going to be short and sweet. I have been so busy the last few weeks due to my Umrah trip and my mini girls getaway that I didn’t have enough time to come up with this post in proper chronological order. (You can read about both of my trips here: For the love of Umrah, and For the love of a Jersey Getaway). These pics are from a small birthday party my husband and I hosted for my closest family and friends for my birthday. (Read about For the love of Turning 30 here). My youngest sister @sepiacrayons took these amazing pics and I simply had to put them up. Also, I could not deprive you guys of all the fabulousness that was displayed at my party. The party was held at Mint Restaurant and Lounge in Long Island. The food was Indo-Asian cuisine and was splendid. Through mingling and socializing, I later realized no pictures of the food were taken, but the food was cooked to perfection. Spicy but still flavorful. These are my fashion forward friends who arrived in their modest fashionable attire. The delicious birthday cake was a complete surprise and my husband ordered it from: http://cmnycakes.com/

For the love of Turning 30

Normally my birthday is not a big deal at all. It comes and it goes. But this year, as I am turning 30, I have been doing a lot of reflecting on my life- what I have done and what I still hope to achieve. Some people may shy away from this milestone birthday, but I for one, am embracing 30 because I truly feel blessed and grateful and upon reflection I am deeply humbled.

For a small family dinner, we went for dinner at Le Bernardin in the city. My older sister, Maryam, and I have birthdays one day apart (she is 364 days older than me) so this was a collaboration birthday dinner for the both of us. It was a prix fixe menu which included appetizers and then the 4 course meal, the last course being dessert. The food was spectacular. I included pics from almost all of the entrees. The service was prompt and the waiters were unbelievably polite and responsive. My dinner entree was not as delicious as the previous entrees but I didn’t say anything. The waiter came up to me on his own and insisted on bringing me something else. They sent me a new dish which perfected the whole experience. The food was positively flavorful and filling. Dessert completed the whole meal and was out of this world. So much robust flavor and texture. A sweet ending to the meal accompanied with iced cappuccino.
