The Navy on Wednesday mentioned the Naval Specific Warfare sailor killed in a education accident in Virginia was Electronics Technician 1st Course Ryan DeKorte from Lubbock, Texas.
DeKorte died Monday from injuries gained late last 7 days in a helicopter landing incident in the course of an exercise at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Tale in Virginia. He was 35.
“Our feelings and prayers are with the DeKorte family members. Ryan was an outstanding teammate, and we mourn his tragic decline,” said Rear Adm. H.W. Howard III, commander of Naval Distinctive Warfare Command. “Ryan was one of our premiere beat support specialists, who possessed all the characteristics that make our power beat prepared for extremely intricate and high-hazard missions in the nation’s protection.”
Howard stated DeKorte’s “humility, stewardship and determination to Naval Unique Warfare manufactured an indelible mark on his teammates and our group.”
